Lure of the Labyrinth

Lure of the Labyrinth is a digital game for middle school-pre algebra students. It is a really interesting website that consists of a number of different math based puzzles including an exciting narrative game where students work to find their missing pet and save the world from monsters! The games are both linked to the NYS math standards. I liked this website a lot because it allows the students to actually think about math in a different way than just completing the usual math worksheets. It is also fun for the students and they are engaged in the games without realizing they are doing math. The website is a great source for teachers. It has a great outline and description about each of the games, what to do before introducing Labyrinth into the classroom, resources, while your working on Labyrinth and following up activities. I would definitely like to use this website in my math classroom one day!

  1. This sounds like an engaging math game. You did not mention the website for these games. I am interested in trying out this site. Math is much easier to learn when it is linked to real life or a game. It is so true that students do not realize they are using math when they are engaged in playing a game.
